Concrete lasts a long time. The East Humber River system was going to be an extension from Lake of the Trent waterway system. Essentially linking Lake Simcoe with Lake Ontario. The waterway was in construction from 1906-1912 when the project was shelved due to the outbreak of World War One.
This partly finished lock system can still be found in and around Newmarket and Holland Landing Ontario proving that concrete really lasts.
