Drieveway-CrackWhat is the first thing a potential home buyer sees when they view a property? The driveway. They will either park in it or walk up it as they approach your home. If you think a cracked and pitted driveway doesn’t matter to a potential buyer you would be wrong.

Here’s what one agent had to say:

“A new concrete driveway will greatly increase your home’s curb appeal. Better curb appeal can speed the sale of your home. It may be an upgrade that will not increase the value of your home but without repair it might cause your house to not sell at all.”

Hardscapes Inc. is expert at repairing cracked and pitted driveways and garage floors. Don’t wait until your house is up for sale to get the job done. We can help today!

Looking for a long lasting, durable, easy-to-clean flooring system?

Look no further!

Concrete SolutionsIntroduced in the 1990s polyaspartic became a new class of coating.

Because polyaspartics can be formulated with slower reaction rates, they can be roller-applied or spray-applied with conventional paint sprayers without the use of solvent. Polyaspartic coatings are also UV and light stable and will not age or yellow.

This format can also be applied with broadcast medias such as quartz and vinyl paint chips.

Hardscapes Inc. often uses these polyaspartics components as well as incorporating metallic pigments to give a long lasting, incredibly durable and easy-to-clean flooring system.

How to Cure Concrete

Helpful Tips

Stopping freshly poured concrete from drying out too quickly is called curing. If left to dry on its own accord, concrete will not develop the full bond between all of its ingredients. It will be weaker and crack mill crack more. The surface might not be as hard as it should be.

+ The form work itself, if left in place, or on the underneath of a suspended slab, stops the concrete drying out too quickly, and can be a curing agent.

+ Spray water onto the formation. A simpler way is to just keep water sprayed onto the slab with garden sprinklers or hand held hose pipes.

+ Use a plastic shield, which basically is a plastic sheet laid on top of the slab to stop the evaporation process. This is one of the most efficient methods of curing concrete.

+ Use concrete curing oils or curing compounds. These compounds and oils now come in a variety of types.

Preparing concrete is harder than it looks. A professional in the field is always a good idea. Hardscapes Inc. has experts who will be happy to help you with all your concrete ideas. Just give us a call at 403-547-5597.

Does your driveway have oil or transmission fluid stains?

Ever wonder what stains your driveway more, oil or transmission fluid?

Quite honestly it doesn’t really matter. Either one will leave a nasty stain. If you leave it too long or you have a chronic problem with your vehicle it may be embedded in the cement permanently.

These two fluids left unattended can also lead to pitting in the concrete. Small divots that will let water sit and will eventually crack the surface.

If your driveway sounds like the one above you might consider re-surfacing. Hardscapes Inc. has a surface solution for every driveway situation. Fast and professional, get your driveway looking brand new in no time.

Does your concrete need lifting or levelling?!

Over the years water, snow and ice even city fed runoff from sewer gutters can cause erosion under your driveway surface. This leaves your concrete driveway slab vulnerable to cracking and if not properly repaired it could collapse.

One way of solving this problem is called mudjacking, a process that pumps high pressured grout into the void under the driveway through holes cut in the surface. The process fills the space between the foundation element and the eroding soil.

Once you have corrected the elevation discrepancy you will still be left with cracking and the inevitable patchwork that covers the holes made to apply the process.

Hardscapes Inc. has a number of solutions to repair and rebuild the surface of your concrete driveway to bring it back to its former beauty.
