This cracked up basement floor was beautifully restored by Hardscapes Inc.

After grinding and patching, our client’s floor received an overlay of Elite Crete’s thin Finish. Once dry, it was stained for a gorgeous titanium mottling. Top coated with Elite Crete E100 PT1 epoxy and a satin polyurethane, this floor will stand up to the daily abuse of kids, toys, pets for years to come.

Here are some things to consider when contemplating a concrete overlay:

  • The conditions, wear and tear your floors be exposed to
  • Certain polished surfaces might not be appropriate for wet conditions
  • High traffic areas may require a darker colour to give the floor a longer life and keep maintenance to a minimum

How much maintenance is required?

This type of surface when coated with a sealer, is stain-resistant to dirt and grease. All that’s required is routine cleaning and maintenance.

Hardscapes completed a quartz broadcast flooring project for an oil field service company. We installed this floor through the shop lunchroom, hallways and bathrooms. With the quartz broadcast finish, you’ll get more of a monochromatic look.

Create perfect concrete structure every time

Even though concrete is a substance that can be easily mixed, you can really run into problems if it is not worked properly. These issues include scaling, discoloring and shrinkage to name a few.

Discoloration or discoloring is one of the most common.

If you are using the same materials, mix and batch, your concrete should have a consistent color. Changes in concrete color can occur just by using two different cements or if a chemical from a job site gets added to the mix. Even different water sources can change the color of the concrete.

Solving discoloration problems:

  1. Discuss your tolerances with the supplier
  2. Water must be completely evaporated before concrete can be finished
  3. Make sure the entire surface is uniformly cured
  4. Use a consistent form release agent

Wine Store Floor Restoration

Another gorgeous reflector floor created using the Elite Crete colouring system. This particular project involved reviving an old wine store floor.

Our concrete flooring systems are poured in place and completely self-levelling. They must be properly prepared before an epoxy coating is applied to achieve the best results. After Hardscapes gave this old floor a diamond grind, some patching, and an Elite Crete pt1 epoxy application the old well-worn floor found new life again.

Still happy with custom floors after 13 years

Established 1973 in Calgary, Alberta, Rilpa Enterprises offers helicopter maintenance, support and equipment leasing services.

Back in 2006 we created a unique and original lobby floor by incorporating the Rilpa logo. After 13 years they needed a couple of minor touch-ups under some rolling office chairs, but they are still very happy with their stained concrete floors.
